Colleton State Park is a small South Carolina park on U.S. Highway 15 between Saint George and Walterboro. Covering 35 acres along the Edisto River, it is the smallest park in the state system. Its chief importance is river access for paddling and fishing, supported by campsites for tents and RVs and a few team-sport facilities. For many years, use remained limited partly because an adjacent SCE&G coal-fired power plant discouraged visitors. After the plant closed at the end of 2012, local officials hoped the former site might eventually be acquired to enlarge the park.
