LaCoste City Hall was built in 1912 as the LaCoste National Bank building. Founded in March 1912 with a capital stock investment of $25,000, the bank's original staff was Joseph Conrad, president; Emil Schmidt, vice-president; and H.C. Heilig, cashier. By 1916 the bank's total assets exceeded $250,000. The bank remained solvent through the years due to conservative banking practices and the support of the local community. In a bustling railroad community, it provided structure to an explosive economy and through years of drought and recession aided farmers, ranchers, rail men, and families with small-town kindness and understanding. In 1974 the bank moved from this original location to a new building across the street, and the original structure was sold to the City of LaCoste, continuing to serve the community as city hall and police station. In 2010 the LaCoste National Bank was purchased by Community National Bank, Hondo.
