Thomas Sadler Roberts Bird Sanctuary is a thirty-one-acre wildlife refuge in Lyndale Park in Minneapolis, on the northeast side of Lake Harriet within the city’s Chain of Lakes Regional Park. Officially designated in 1936 at the request of the Minnesota Audubon Society, it was named for Thomas Sadler Roberts, a retired physician who later became a professor of ornithology at the University of Minnesota and director of its Museum of Natural History. The sanctuary is especially significant as a spring refuge for migratory songbirds, and its importance as urban bird habitat has been recognized through its designation by the National Audubon Society as an Important Bird Area.
