Road-weary travelers crossing these steep mountains could find what they needed at this stop, which included a restaurant, gas station, garage, store, and a water trough for overheated cars. Above the road on a flat knoll was an auto camping area. A large cement reservoir about 500 feet to the south gave the stop its name.
