This traditional cottage home, featuring a unique cherry paneled study, was built in 1949 for Judge William Buford Lewallen (1920-2003) and Celdon Medaris Lewallen (1921-2012). Judge Lewallen, son of William Everett and Annette Stansberry Lewallen, served as judge of both the Trial Justice Court and Juvenile Court of Anderson County, and he was Speaker of the Tennessee House of Representatives from 1947 to 1949, the youngest state representative ever elected at the time. Celdon Medaris Lewallen, daughter of Glenn and Cora Medaris, taught at Clinton High School during the integration crisis, served on the Clinton Recreation Commission, and was appointed by the governor to the Tennessee State Museum Foundation Board. The Lewallens had one daughter, Ann Dancy Lewallen Jones, executive director of the Tennessee Film, Entertainment, and Music Commission.
