On July 9, 1847, after traveling 3 miles during the day, Thomas Bullock and his party crossed Muddy Creek at three o'clock p.m., describing it as a beautiful clear stream with a pebbly bottom, and camped on the west side at a pleasant campground where the brethren sang hymns for the President during a delightful evening.
