Garvey Ranch, founded by Richard Garvey, Sr. in 1873, extended from San Gabriel Boulevard to Atlantic Boulevard. This building was used by Mr. Garvey for storage, as a bunkhouse, and for the pursuit of his interest in astronomical studies. It was later restored by the City of Monterey Park, Junior Chamber of Commerce, Astronomical Association, and Soroptimist Club.
