Hidden Falls
Nature
Hidden Falls is a small waterfall on the Mississippi River bluffs in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and the centerpiece of a public riverside park that also provides broad access to the river corridor. The site appeared on early 19th-century maps as Rum Town and Lebanon Grove, was chosen by landscape architect Horace Cleveland in 1887 as one of Saint Paul’s main parks, and saw major development when the Works Progress Administration improved it in 1936 and 1937, including a limestone staircase. Its water source has shifted over time, and by 2021 the visible flow came from stormwater pipes, with later redevelopment plans seeking to restore a more consistent watershed-fed cascade.
