Downer Cemetery is named after Lucretia Downer, who in 1825 was one of the very few pioneer women to purchase land and apply for a land grant in what would become Canton Township. She rests here along with veterans from wars dating back to the Civil War and some of Canton's earliest pioneers. The cemetery is owned and operated by The Charter Township of Canton.
