San Luis State Park was a Colorado state park in the San Luis Valley of Alamosa County until 2017, when it lost state park designation and management passed to the San Luis Lakes State Wildlife Area. East of Mosca and south of State Highway 150 near Great Sand Dunes National Park, the area centered on an intermittent lake within the hydrologically managed San Luis Closed Basin drainage, where only small amounts of water are sometimes allocated. Its significance lies in this unusual managed wetland setting and the wildlife it supports, including coyotes, kangaroo rats, rabbits, elk, songbirds, raptors, reptiles, and amphibians.
