The Henry Ford in Dearborn, Michigan, is the nation’s largest indoor-outdoor museum complex, combining the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation, Greenfield Village, and major research archives. Developed from Henry Ford’s effort to preserve objects that tell the story of American life and the Industrial Revolution, it was dedicated in 1929 and opened to the public in 1933. Its collections include landmark artifacts tied to presidents, civil rights, transportation, invention, and industry, while Greenfield Village pioneered the outdoor living-history museum by assembling relocated historic buildings and demonstrating trades and travel. Together, they present American history through artifacts, places, and everyday life on an exceptional scale.
