Cape Henlopen Beacon was a Delaware lighthouse built in 1825 at the tip of Cape Henlopen after the shoreline had extended northwestward and left the older Cape Henlopen Light too far inland to mark the point effectively. Its first conical tower used oil lamps and reflectors, and for nearly 30 years it was tended from the neighboring light without its own keeper’s house. Improvements came in 1854 with a keeper’s house and a fourth-order Fresnel lens. Rebuilt in 1864 with a screw-pile structure and later given a fog-signal building, it was overtaken by the shifting coast and discontinued and dismantled in October 1884.
