Augusta Wildlife Area is a state-managed protected tract in Eau Claire County, Wisconsin, where the Western Coulee and Ridges and Central Sand Plains ecological regions meet, creating a mix of wetland and forest habitats. First acquired in 1942, it has expanded from 2,020 acres to 2,503 acres, with a long-term goal of 2,640 acres. Established in part to support geese and ducks, it remains strongly associated with waterfowl. Its habitats include pine, aspen, and red maple stands as well as cattails, blue flag iris, sphagnum moss, bur-reed, and reed canary grass, supporting species from green-winged teal and American wigeon to bears, otters, and sandhill cranes.
