St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church was established in 1849 along the old Alexandria Ferry Road. Rev. Joseph M. Finotti, S.J., was the first pastor, and Rev. Patrick J. Begley became the first resident pastor in 1948. The church stands as a tribute of gratitude to the faithful members of this parish, past and present.
