Ellmaker State Wayside is a small Oregon state park on U.S. Route 20 between Corvallis and Newport, created from an 80-acre donation made to the state in 1961 by Harlan D. Ellmaker, a retired United States Forest Service employee who had lived there. Born in Oregon in 1881, Ellmaker gave the timber and grassland as a memorial to his family and in hopes of preserving a fading wilderness. The property, with two beaver-dammed streams that join to form Tum Tum Creek, became the first state park on Route 20 between Corvallis and Newport. It remains a year-round day-use park and quiet roadside green space.
