Rotary Botanical Gardens in Janesville, Wisconsin, is a twenty-acre public garden created in 1988 by local Rotary Clubs on the site of a former sand and gravel quarry. After a long cleanup and restoration of the debris-strewn city-owned property, the grounds were transformed into a series of themed gardens, paths, benches, and gazebos, with a rehabilitated building becoming a visitors’ and environmental center. Known for areas such as the Japanese, Scottish, Rose, Italian, and English cottage gardens, it also serves as a major event venue. Its Holiday Light Show and nationally recognized landscape design have made it a leading regional attraction.
