Missourians who died in the Vietnam War are honored as comrades, patriots, and gentle heroes, with a call to remember them, to hold a place for them within oneself, and to carry forward what they left and taught with their dying. A passage by Major Michale Davis O'Donnell, dated 1 January 1970 at Dak To, Vietnam, urges that they never be forgotten and that even when men call the war insane, one moment be taken to embrace those left behind. The Moving Wall, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, stood here October 17-23, 1992, in memory of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
