Andrew Jackson State Park, a three hundred sixty-acre South Carolina park north of Lancaster on U.S. Highway 521, was established in 1952 to honor Andrew Jackson, who was born nearby in 1767 and spent his boyhood in the Waxhaws region. The park blends memorial features with a museum on Jackson’s early life, including period-style rooms, early tools, and farm implements that evoke colonial-era daily living. Its grounds include a birthplace site identification, a replica late-eighteenth-century one-room schoolhouse, and a large bronze statue of Jackson as a boy by Anna Hyatt Huntington. The park also offers a lake, trails, camping, and other outdoor recreation.
