From 1861 to 1865, the Town of North Haven honored the valor of its sons who fought on land and sea in the Civil War to preserve the Union, and it associated their service with Cedar Mountain, Fort Wagner, Fredericksburg, Fort Fisher, Chancellorsville, Fort Gregg, Virginia, and Petersburg.
