The Oakland, Illinois Community W. W. I War Memorial honors the A. R. C. nurse Lucy M. Reeds and the soldiers and sailors of the community who served during World War I. It records local men who served overseas, including soldiers and a Red Cross nurse, as well as men in the Navy, men in naval training stations, aviators in U. S. cantonments, members of the Student Army Training Corps, and soldiers in U. S. cantonments. The memorial covers service during April 6, 1917 to Nov. 11, 1918 and was unveiled May 30, 1919.
