The International Order of Twelve Knights and Daughters of Tabor, Inc. opened Taborian Hospital under the leadership of P. M. Smith. It was the second oldest hospital for Blacks in Mississippi and the first hospital in Mound Bayou. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior and designated as a Mississippi Landmark by the State of Mississippi.
