Completed in 1834, the Skew Arch Bridge carried travelers on the Huntingdon, Cambria & Indiana Turnpike over the portage railroad near the base of Incline No. 6, while also accommodating wagons, horses, and livestock. Builders skewed the bridge's angle so the road could cross Incline No. 6 without an awkward bend. Although the railroad closed in 1854, the road bridge remained in service until 1922. Today it stands with interwoven diagonal planes and pleasing lines as a superb example of stone masonry design and craftsmanship.
