Known earlier as Corrowaugh and Frog Level, the community was named Windsor Station in 1856 and became Windsor when the town was incorporated in 1902. During its first 100 years of incorporation, many residents served on the town council or were appointed by the council to the planning commission, board of zoning appeals, or town staff. Special recognition was given to the founding members of Windsor’s first official council in April 1902—Columbus W. Bailey, J.R. Deans, C.L. Griffin, W.S. Holland, Charles T. King, Franklin Pierce, F.C. Roberts, W.J. Rhodes, and John S. Vaughn—and to the mayors who served from 1902 to 2002: Charles T. King, W.J. Rhodes, C.L. Griffin, C.F. Joyner, Franklin Pierce, C.W. Bailey, J.W. Roberts, L.H. Alphin, F.L. Rose, M.H. Robinson, Jr., Robert C. Claud, Wesley F. Garris, and Marvin A. Crocker, Jr.
