W. P. Snyder Jr. is a historic steam-driven stern-wheel towboat moored on the Muskingum River in Marietta, Ohio, and the only intact vessel of its kind still on the nation’s river system. Built in 1918 for Carnegie Steel as the W. H. Clingerman, she later bore several names before becoming W. P. Snyder Jr. in 1945. She spent her working years towing coal on the Monongahela River and is especially significant as an early steel-hull towboat that retained anti-hogging struts and cables associated with wooden vessels. Given for exhibition in 1955, she remains preserved as a rare survivor of the Ohio River steamboat era.
