In the cavalry action following the Battle of Chickamauga, the Confederate cavalry regiments of Dibrell and Morrison attacked Wolford's cavalry brigade here, captured 700 prisoners, 6 mountain howitzers, 50 wagons loaded with stores, 10 ambulances, and a quantity of horses and mules, while the Federal survivors fled to Loudon and personnel casualties were small.
