Erle P. Halliburton left an indelible impression on Duncan and Stephens County as the county's largest employer, a perpetually inquisitive person, and someone whose technical inspirations became legends in the oil industry around the world. He was remembered for his deep and abiding concern for the welfare of the people of the area. The oil well cementing process he developed isolates the various downhole zones, guards against collapse of the casing, and permits control of the well during its producing life, and this is what put him in business. Halliburton Patented Process Oil Well Cementing Co. of Duncan, Oklahoma, grew under his leadership until Halliburton Oil Well Cementing Co. was operating on land on every continent and in offshore oil and gas producing fields. HowCo was the taproot of today's Halliburton Company, the premier worldwide provider of many other essential technical oil field services.
