Falcon Stadium was created under the auspices of the Air Force Academy Foundation, Inc., and a major portion of the funds for its construction was contributed by personnel of the United States Air Force. The flagpoles flanking the area represent the major commands and organizations that participated, including Air Defense Command, Air Training Command, Air Force Systems Command, Air Force Logistics Command, Military Air Transport Service, Air Force Communications Service, Alaskan Air Command, Caribbean Air Command, Air University, United States Air Force Academy, Air Force Accounting and Finance Center, USAF Security Service, Headquarters Command, Strategic Air Command, USAF in Europe, Pacific Air Forces, Tactical Air Command, Continental Air Command, Air National Guard, Supreme HQ. Allied Powers Europe, North American Air Defense Command, retired personnel of the Air Force, Air Force Reserve personnel, Army Air Defense Command, and Fort Carson. Those recognized as responsible for the creation of the Air Force Academy and the stadium include Secretaries of the Air Force W. Stuart Symington, Thomas E. Finletter, Harold E. Talbott, Donald A. Quarles, James H. Douglas Jr., Dudley C. Sharp, and Eugene M. Zuckert; Chiefs of Staff Gen. Carl A. Spaatz, Gen. Hoyt S. Vandenberg, Gen. Nathan F. Twining, Gen. Thomas D. White, and Gen. Curtis E. LeMay; and U. S. Air Force Academy Superintendents Lt. General Hubert H. Harmon, Maj. General James E. Briggs, Maj. General William S. Stone, and Maj. General Robert H. Warren.
