Coffey County, Kansas, includes the Coffey County Courthouse, built in 1901 and in use until 1964; Frederick and Isabelle Scott Troxell, who built the first home in Coffey County in 1854; August Zscheile and the Burlington Carriage Works; Delos Miller, sheriff in 1877; C. B. Graves, county attorney in 1876; W. H. Bear, register of deeds in 1868; Burton L. Kingsbury, probate judge in 1859; Col. O. E. Leanard, who helped locate and lay out Burlington in 1851; and the Wolf Creek Generating Station.
