Glen Echo Park's 1921 Dentzel Carousel is a park highlight. In 1960, the park's first Civil Rights protest occurred on the Carousel. After Glen Echo Park became a national park unit, local residents raised $80,000 in one month to keep the Carousel here. Thanks to their efforts, it is one of the few Dentzel Carousels that remained in its original location and is still enjoyed by people of all ages.
