The Overstreet School Historic District, listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1992, represents Starkville's development from 1870 to 1940. Its focal point is Overstreet Elementary School, originally built as Starkville's public school in 1897. The neighborhood includes 180 buildings and features a wide variety of residential architectural styles, including Colonial Revival, Queen Anne, Victorian Vernacular, and Craftsman.
