Indian Boundary Line
History
3
The Ordinance Line located here was intended to form the northern borders of Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois, but those borders were shifted northward at statehood. Called the Indian Boundary Line in Indiana, it formed here the borders between four Native American treaties, two in La Porte County, before the tribes’ removal by 1838.
