Mary L. Landis moved to New Cumberland in 1962 and became widely known for her civic activities. She served on Borough Council for over 30 years and was Vice President. Closely affiliated with the New Cumberland Public Library, she was librarian, conducted children's activities, and was a strong advocate and leader of the library's Foundation House, organizing fundraisers and hosting book reviews. Twice President of the New Cumberland Women's Club, she was an instrumental figure in the annual Apple Festival through her enduring practice of culinary excellence. Her lifelong, selfless devotion to serving others was exemplary and benefited countless people, and she was recognized with a place on The Path of Leadership in The Peiffer Memorial Arboretum and Nature Preserve on August 21, 2021.
