During the Battle of Chattanooga from Nov. 23d to Nov. 27th, 1863, Union casualties by division, including losses at Orchard Knob, Lookout Mountain, Missionary Ridge, and subsequent operations as far as Ringgold Gap, GA., totaled 69 officers and 684 enlisted killed, 393 officers and 4329 enlisted wounded, and 27 officers and 322 enlisted missing, for an aggregate of 5824. Division aggregates were Cruft's, 146; Sheridan's, 1346; Wood's, 1035; Steinwehr's, 311; Schurz's, 19; Geary's, 341; Johnson's, 323; Davis', 42; Baird's, 566; Osterhaus', 432; M.L. Smith's, 103; Ewing's, 637; and J.E. Smith's, 523.
