Indian Lake State Park in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula occupies 567 acres around Indian Lake in Schoolcraft County, divided between two units about three miles apart on the south and west shores. The south shore site was acquired in 1932 and developed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps and Works Progress Administration, which built features including a log bath house and a limestone picnic shelter still in use. The west shore site was acquired in 1939, with development beginning in 1965. The park remains a public recreation area for swimming, boating, hiking, picnicking, and camping, while preserving New Deal-era structures that connect it to 1930s public works.
