Saltsburg Canal Park
Transportation
From 1829 to 1864, Saltsburg was part of Pennsylvania's main line canal and included two boatyards, warehouses, lift lock number 8, and a turning basin. Salt from nearby wells was shipped from here, and passengers traveled on packet boats, including one owned and operated by J.M. Marshall of Saltsburg. The site is listed on the Pennsylvania inventory of historic places and on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior.
