Sod House Spring
History
4
Sod House Spring was an Indian camp and watering place. It took its name from the first sod house built there in 1876 by George and John Causey and Frank Lloyd, buffalo hunters, and became the first permanent settlement in this region. In 1882, the Estes Brothers established a cow camp at this point and grazed cattle in the vicinity until the property was acquired by the Capitol Syndicate.
