Cinnamon Butte
Nature
Cinnamon Butte is a volcanic mountain area in Oregon’s Cascade Range made up not of one cone but of several cinder cone volcanoes and lava domes. Its vents are older than about 6,845 years, based on their burial beneath ash from Mount Mazama’s eruption. That ash places Cinnamon Butte within the wider eruptive history of the Cascades, where layers of tephra and lava help establish the sequence of ancient volcanic activity.
