John Socrates Darling was born April 24, 1806, came to Texas in 1835, served as a soldier in the Texas War for Independence before and during the Siege of Bexar in 1835, and participated in the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836. He died April 6, 1870. His wife, Louranie Darling, was born June 10, 1810, and died June 8, 1870.
