John J. Handley (1842-1935), a Confederate veteran, settled here in 1892 after earlier living in Georgia and in Smith and Comanche Counties, Texas. A farmer, he lived to see agriculture rival ranching. The Teville post office, named for a T Junction in the road, opened here in 1906 and closed in 1910. In 1914, W.B. Berry and W.H. Badgett surveyed the 4-acre cemetery, and graves were moved from across the road into this ground. In 1945, Mr. and Mrs. E.T. Strain gave one acre to enlarge the cemetery. Four generations of the Handley family and their neighbors rest here.
