Grandmother Mountain is a 4,603-foot peak in North Carolina’s High Country near Linville, entirely within Pisgah National Forest beside the Blue Ridge Parkway. Set among protected ridges and headwaters, its slopes give rise to streams that help feed the Linville River. The summit also carries the WUNE-TV tower, which broadcasts PBS North Carolina on channel 17. Another mountain with the same name stands in Wilkes County, North Carolina, at 3,379 feet, but this peak is the one associated with the High Country landscape near Linville.
