The Carbaugh Run Rhyolite Quarry Site in Franklin Township, Pennsylvania, includes a cluster of small prehistoric quarries atop Snaggy Ridge and the remains of a possible campsite beside Carbaugh Run below. Discovered by Norman Keefer in the 1920s, it has been examined informally but not formally studied. With forty or more pits, it is one of the largest rhyolite quarry sites in Pennsylvania and one of three known along South Mountain. Its remaining rhyolite may help trace the source of stone found at other sites across the state, while the possible quarry-camp link could clarify prehistoric trade networks and settlement patterns.
