Mill Hill Historic Park in central Norwalk, Connecticut, brings together a cemetery and three historic buildings that trace the town’s civic life from the eighteenth through twentieth centuries. The Mill Hill Burying Ground, opened in 1767, is Norwalk’s third-oldest cemetery and includes eleven Revolutionary War veterans and other notable local figures. The site also preserves the remnant of Governor Thomas Fitch IV’s circa 1740 house and law office, partly burned in the British raid of 1779 and moved here in 1956, an around 1826 district schoolhouse later relocated because of Interstate 95, and Norwalk’s 1835 brick Town House, which served as town hall until 1913.
