Historic Indian Mary Park
History
3
Historic Indian Mary Park occupies what was called the smallest Indian reservation ever created. The U.S. Government granted it to Indian Mary in 1894 in gratitude to her father, Umpqua Joe, who gave the alarm that saved white settlers of the area from a planned massacre. It was later developed by the Josephine County Court and the Josephine County Park Board.
