Marbles Kids Museum is a nonprofit children’s museum in downtown Raleigh’s Moore Square Historic District devoted to imagination, discovery, and learning through play through hands-on exhibits. It was formed in 2007 by merging Exploris, a global learning center opened in 1999, with Playspace, a museum for younger children; after both closed that summer, the combined institution reopened on September 29 as Marbles. Its name comes from a two-story stainless steel wall inset with more than 1.2 million marbles. The campus includes an IMAX theater with North Carolina’s largest conventional IMAX screen, and a 2024 approved expansion will enlarge and renovate the museum.
