Roscoe E. Burgess, Sr. was a legend in Bridgewater, elected to Council six times, tireless in service to community organizations, and one of the greatest baseball players ever to come from Bridgewater. Raised in the segregated South as an African-American, he dedicated his life to bridging the barriers that divide humanity by connecting with people individually, person-to-person and heart-to-heart, reaching nearly everyone in town. Bridgewater became a better and closer community because of Roscoe E. Burgess, Sr.
