Webb Memorial State Park occupies a peninsula of three connected drumlins and a low marsh extending into Hingham Bay in Boston Harbor. It is distinctive as the only mainland part of the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area. The site’s use changed dramatically over time: in the 1860s it became part of the Bradley Fertilizer factory and served as an industrial waste dump, then in the 1950s it became the launcher area for a Nike missile site, with fire control and radar equipment across the bay on Hog Island, now Spinnaker Island. Deactivated in 1974, the property was transferred in 1977 and opened as a public park in 1980.
