On October 23, 1956, the Hungarian people rose up against tyranny, seeking to regain freedom and self-determination for their beloved homeland and becoming the first to crack the invading Soviet Communist empire; President Reagan recalled the shining example of the many brave men and women who faced death fearlessly in that struggle.
