Old Virginia Brick Company’s employees, officers, and directors dedicated a memorial to all the innocent people killed by terrorists on September 11, 2001. Two beams came from the 33rd through 36th floors of the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. The deaths listed for the attacks were 2,645 at the World Trade Center in New York, 87 on American Airlines Flight 11, 60 on United Flight 175, 125 at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., 59 on American Airlines Flight 77, and 40 on United Flight 93 in a Pennsylvania field, for a total of 3,016. Three men on United Flight 93 led the other passengers in a heroic unarmed attack against the terrorists and forced the flight to crash in a field in Pennsylvania, giving their lives while saving thousands in Washington, D.C. Many heroic actions took place that day, and New York City firefighters, emergency medical services personnel, and police officers displayed extraordinary valor while trying to save others. The dead included 343 firefighters, 50 emergency medical services and police officers, and 10 other emergency responders. The text also includes Psalms 91:1–16 and offers a prayer that God has taken these innocent souls into His care, will continue to bless the country, and through His grace will help all people, by love and charity, be a light to the world.
