J. Lamar Brantley Road was named in 1982 in recognition of his life and service to his community and state. He served the 14th District as a member of the South Carolina Highway Commission from 1962 to 1966 and as chairman from 1965 to 1966. Through Brantley's efforts, this road was added to the State Highway System and paved as a way to the popular boat landing for which he gave land. He was a dedicated public servant.
