Tsegi Canyon lies in Navajo County, Arizona. Its name derives from a Navajo descriptive term meaning “in between the rocks,” a phrase used for deep canyons with sheer walls. Laguña Creek begins at the canyon’s head, where the creeks from Long Canyon and Dowozhiebito Canyon join at an elevation of about 6,325 feet. From that confluence, the canyon extends toward its mouth near Marsh Pass, descending to about 6,024 feet in elevation.
